Using MyWordz® to Show the Code™: Supporting Reading and Spelling
The MyWordz® technology will always Show the Code™ for the learner, in whatever way they need it, in the moment.
No waiting for the next lesson. No waiting until a correspondence has been taught. No dependence on an adult knowing the answer.

English is hard. And it’s not just children who need an English Pronunciation Guide.
I’ve spent years exploring the English Pronunciation Code, supporting thousands of teachers and developing ways to make the connection between speech and print visible.
The result is MyWordz® technology, powered by my Ortho-GraphiX® algorithm.
It means you don’t have to memorise the whole English Pronunciation Code, follow a programme or wait for someone to explain it. You can just look it up.
A three-year-old figuring out how to pronounce a word. An EAL learner learning English. A dyslexic learner trying to spell. A university student learning IPA. An adult faced with a word they’ve never seen before. A non-speaking person wanting to turn thoughts into words.
Different people. Same English Pronunciation Code. Different reasons for needing access to it.
We want parents and teachers to know how to support children anywhere, anytime, even if they have no resources.
This means understanding how letters and sounds connect.
If they don't yet know the Monster Sounds and you don't have MyWordz.tech, use the Monster Spelling Piano app ‘Phonemies®’ screen.

Heteronyms are words with the same spelling but different pronunciations and meanings.
We show them here to make a point: teaching isolated graphemes is not enough. Even if children can see which letters form the graphemes, they still need to know which phonemes those graphemes represent in that word. With heteronyms, meaning determines the pronunciation. So vocabulary knowledge matters.
We need children to map words in sentences so that they are decoding in context. When we Show the Code™, we show both the graphemes and their phoneme values, giving every child, including those who do not speak English as a first language, access to the pronunciation that matches the meaning of the word in context.
